I've seen it posted more than once where people may post something like:

I agree, the engine in the 328 as just as capable and more economical. People want what they can't have, it's as simple as that.

Erm because the 330i has more power than the 328i, but none of the maintenance issues associated with turbocharged engines. I'd for sure get it if I had the option.

Well, probably because it is the next most powerful alternative to the 335i and its unreliability. I like change for the better but they seriously need to fix the issue, not a day goes by without someone claiming to have been left stranded by it.
The 328i does not feel as happy when given the boot. It almost feels restricted in comparison...

The 330 is a great car BMW should simply up the power on the 328 back to 258hp. Or maybe a bit more.

I'm just going to assume you meant that it would cannibalize the 328. There's a whole subforum of people who drive 335s that would never consider a 330 or a 328.

No no I think there's space for a 330i between the 328i and the 335i. Some people still believe strongly that munich-bred NA straight-six best define the 3er.

I'd prefer a 335 over a 330 simply because the 335 has computer controlled twin turbos, which can mean big performance gains with little money spent. Also, I believe the new e9x 328i got better performance figures than the e9x 330i. |

I think people miss it mainly because it's not around here anymore. I do agree that the 330i is a wonderfully balanced car and reliability seems to be good for most of us. I think it would sell well even if they kept the 328i and 335i as bookends around it. It's the 335i without the turbos. Decent power, nice sound. It came with all the same "upgrades" that the 335i comes with when compared to the 328i -- bigger brakes, more robust transmission, better wheels, Logic 7, chrome trim and exhaust, and so on.
Also, ArabianSensation, you may want to recheck your figures. E9x 328i does not have better performance than E9x 330i! 330i has a stronger engine and a bit better performance. You may be thinking of the E46 330i?

Never happened to me and mine has failed 3 times! But would I trade it in for a 330? So lets see my hpfp has failed 3 times.. equals 5 days in the shop. I don't mind it one bit for the extra power I am producing. |

But when the car is out of warranty, and you have to start paying for those hpfp failures, will you still not mind one bit?

Like I said earler I have lived through 3 count'em 3 hpfp failures and was able to drive my car to the dealershipevery single time. Once the drive was 50-60 miles, no issues except for the fact that the car drives like a turtle. |

Make that 268HP and you're on the money. DI adds 13 HP over the 2006 model. The number you quoted was for metric HP.

Because right off the bat, you get an extra 30 hp. That's a lot of HP if you had to do that yourself by modifying a 328. The two cars are priced at the same price, almost.
