Throttle Actuator Extension of Warranty

Had my 2013 into the BMW dealer the other day. This is a 3/2013 M3 Coupe.

I saw on printouts of service history that the advisor pulled, that it said something about extension of warranty on the throttle actuator. Ruh ?

I asked to see it. I took a picture. This looks like it went into effect 3/10/16.

I hadn't read anything about that here and this feels like the type of thing that might be covered like a blanket. I haven't seen it, other than "they keep breaking". Is this common knowledge that they've extended the coverage on these all-too-often-breaking actuators?

This says 10 years / 120K miles.

I've been tracking this as I sold a 2009 with 80K miles to get this car.

That'd be huge if they are offering a 10/120 on those. I thought it was only in Cali.

Yep, it's in black and white on my vehicle, 100%. They confirmed. And my car was delivered in South Carolina, now in Georgia.

It was a BMW vehicle, so maybe it got the CA warranty -- but it was never sold in, or registered in, California.

Just got my 2013 M3 in January and I'm in California. Should my TA's be covered for 10/120 as well or is this vehicle/owner specific?

That's about time, BMW. I am on my 3rd throttle actuator replacement.

Too bad only BMW NA will cover this, as I have shipped my car abroad I will still pay out of pocket.

EDIT: It seems this is not for the throttle actuator, which is sad considering how bad they are built.

I tried to find the Svc Bulletin online last night but couldn't find one.. (# is on that printout photo I posted).

Worth noting that the service advisor at my dealer wasn't aware of this prior to seeing it on my car's info sheet by the way. He said " oh, yeah, lots of those get replaced and it can be expensive".

Idle control or throttle actuator? It doesn't specifically state throttle actuator--

This is referring to the Idle Air Controller. Not the throttle actuator.

What are the symptoms of a failing idle air controller? I've had instances within the first few minutes of starting my car where my idle will bounce around and sound like it's almost low enough to stall. After driving off the idle is fine though. Throttle application has been fine as well.

Sounds like it could possibly be the idle air valve. No easy way to tell without scanning the car.

So whats the consensus here? Is this sib for the Throttle Actuators or something else and is it CA only or everyone?
I tried to search for that sib number but came up with nothing...

It's referring to the idle control valve. Again, NOT the throttle actuators.

BMW FINALLY owning up to the problem. Holy fuck man...I bet well over 50% of all M3s had this issue.

Those who paid this out of pocket should try to claim this back....

Sad part is, the reason they're even doing this is b/c this is an emissions part and they are liable for lawsuits form EPA for this. So OP, this is extended coverage is not new. I never received my letter for this.

It is new for those not living in states like CA where it is covered as part of the pollution control system. Fortunately I've not had this issue yet but good to know it is covered now here in the backwoods of Louisiana!

From the looks of it, it's not the throttle actuator that is covered...
