Paddle Shifter Retrofit
Can you add paddle shifters to the base sport steering wheel, as in not the m-sport wheel. Because i like the normal wheel but want to add paddles. What parts would i need?

But, I did this to my own car just last week and I've attached the PDF I used. One thing I lucked out on is that my car is pre-wired for the paddles.

I believe the M Sport steering wheel just needs the different backplate piece and may require you to drill into it, but yes this DIY will work with the M Sport steering wheel.

Of course you still would need to code it for paddles with ESys

Here are couple pics of the paddle cutout and the harness end and paddle mounting screw. The issue I saw was getting the proper depth for the paddle, i figured I could cut it all the way to the metal spoke and add filler to get the depth correct.

From this thread: http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1274977 Here are the values: F30 Down / - Paddle Open/OFF 6.55kΩ Closed/ON 349Ω F30 UP / + Paddle Open/OFF 6.17kΩ Closed/ON 1.180kΩ Now the question is if you're comfortable soldering resistors to alter them if they're not correct on your paddles. I was lucky because my seller just sent me a new paddle circuit and so it all worked out. Hope this helps. |

I solved my problem today.
Some bastard on eBay sold me (-) paddle for F10 and (+) paddle for F30 ... so I only had to change resistors on (-) paddle. Paddles between F10 and F30 differ not only in resistances, but also on PCB layout, so you need to solder new resistors on different locations ... but you can figure it out with a multimeter very simple and it does not require any modifications. |

May have been addressed but the sport line models have the regular steering wheel with paddles. You can simply swap for one of those. You then have to code something like 2TB for sport automatic transmission which uses the paddles and is also a sportier and more aggressive shift in sport mode in general.

I don't think it really matters. At the end of the day they're all functionally the same, it's switch that turns on and off. The paddles themselves only send an electric current to another module that interprets that to shift up or down. Probably the only difference is the resistance that is different between an F10 and F30.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I'm new to posting in forums but have been around reading all types of thread. I'm hoping someone could help me out.
A few days ago I was replacing my base steering wheel to a Luxury Line Steering with paddle shift. I didn't have the wire from FEM to SZL so I followed the instruction here on the forum and also watched Brian (Kies Motorsports). I disconnected the battery and began removing the airbag. Removal and installation is finished and I connected the negative battery terminal. The moment of truth, I push the Start button (No Engine Start) and the wiper started moving. I thought maybe I hit the switch. I tried turning it off but it won't turn off. Pretty much all the SZL isn't working (turn signal, wiper, steering control, horn, lights on the steering control). I did some reading and bought a used SZL from eBay thinking my SZL was bad. It is from a 2015 F32 335i. It's the same exact module. I just installed it earlier and everything is the same. I'm still having the same problem. I have no idea what went wrong. My car is a 2013 328i Base Model. I wouldn't be able to take the car to the dealer not until Tuesday next week on my day off. I don't want to take to the dealer if I could fix it myself. I hope anyone can chime in what they think is wrong. Thank you! |
