E90 325i DSC, DCC, Start Off Assistant, Run Flat Error
my E90 325i 2007, Steering Column Failure????
When I start the car, its ok, NO FAULT, but whenever I start TURNING the steering wheel, the error is triggered, Replacing this at the stealership, is very expensive, And my warranty is over, is there any way to fix this without replacing the whole steering column and reprogram the car from scratch? I'm thinkng that since its already working, there might be something that I can do, to FIX it. Any Ideas are more than welcomed Youtube Link here: Really Appreciate ANY help, as I'm Disprate right now...

issue with szl most likely...column itself likely doesnt need replaced just the module although programming is neccesary..most likely the fault has something to do with steering angle plausability or internal module issue..

I can't thank you enough, but let me get this straight..., as per what you suggested, it seems that I don't need to replace the (Steering wheel column) is that correct? if it is, what is the Name in English (lol) for the might-be faulty part? I really appreciate your cooperation friend. Will

Thanks alot, I will give it a go, and see what may come up, but my last question for you is this:
Do I need to reprogram the whole car, as its the case when changing the Column? or no need to do that? I'm asking because I want to know if I will ever need to go to the dealer to reprogram my car. Regards

hi i think we have the same problem.
dealer said its a common problem, anyways, they went in and cleaned the "steering angle sensor".. they said sometimes it can be cleaned sometimes it has to be replaced.. cost around $70 (PHP3500) to have it cleaned. error hasn't reaappeared |

I really hope that its a matter of sensor cleaning only, cuz it costs a hell, plus leaving the car at the dealer, and no loaner, since warranty is over.
Do you think I can clean it myself? And: Will the car need Software programming using the GT1 Tool?, or since its the same sensor (no replace) then I don't need SW? really appreciate it man

I'm having the same problem with my E90 it just happend tonight when i was playing with the car (swapping headlights) i had my wheel turned all the way so i could access the rear signal covers. When i went to turn on the car to test my lights the steering wheel automatically straightened itself out and the error came on. The wheels were still turned... I was able to get everything working, car drives like normal but now i have that error..
FTM error DSC error Amber BRAKE light on I am also out of warranty |

DSC, FTM and amber BRAKE errors
I am on a 4300 miles road trip, during a 10hr driving day approx half way into the day trip while the car was on cruise control, I've got the DSC, FTM and amber BRAKE errors. Cruise control would not engage with these msg. It wouldn't clear so I stopped at the first oppertunity. Turned of the car, got gas, started the engine - error cleared after pulling onto the highway, back on cruise control. Second time the errors came back after approx 30 minutes or so on cruise control. Wouldn't clear untill I turned of the car. Started it back up again, errors cleared after a mile (or so) driving. Then the third time the error came back briefly and cleared itself. All highway driving, no wierd steering angles, smooth pavement, 75 - 85 mph speeds, somewhat mountainous terrain (Colorado - Wyoming - I-80). Has not come back (yet). Any ideas?
I just checked my service msg on my I-drive, nothing seems to be stored relating to these errors. Did it clear itself?

e90 dsc problems
I have had similar probles due to alternator and voltage regulator.
You can try few things before new steering angle sensor: 1) start the car and turn the wheel couple of times from at most position from left to right and back (meaning from end to end). This should recalibrate the sensor, some say. 2) Go and check somewhere the alternator and voltage regulator. If there are low voltage or voltage is going up and down DSC is first to react. |
