335is with DCT owners, what is your mileage and is there any issues with transmission?

Currently have 53k miles on mine, purchased recently. DCT is fast and smooth when car goes fast lol, but kind of twitchy on stop and go traffic, is that normal? It's my first dual clutch transmission and it's very different compared to my wife's CVT Subaru and my daily Audi with buttery smooth ZF 8 speed.

There is slight delay when you release brakes and applying gas (also when switching from D to R and vice versa).

Changed fluid, pan, gasket and filter last week, and filter was pretty bad. Pretty sure it was first replacement in 12 years.

my 2013 33is dct is @ 38k miles; scheduling to have dct fully serviced @ 40k miles; your description of the minor delays = my experience; i believe this is inherent in this transmission.

what part of wa state? i'm in gig harbor.

I'm at around 102k miles. I was also facing a bit of quirks with it, mainly that delay. Like if I'm slowing down to near 0 km/h and then I have to accelerate definitely feels delayed a bit. Am about to service mine with new fluid, filters and pan, pretty sure has never been done either and was hoping it would change but I guess it is what it is. I also have XHP stage 3 tune and the creep turned off. Sometimes to feel like the upshifts aren't perfect.

I also have a leak that I think it's from the top seal, the one you need to drop the DCT to replace. Will see here with a new pan in place.

I've been reading and seeing comments that the 335is has upgraded wastegates / actuators. Is this true??

I'm skeptical considering the n54 engine is the same in a 335is but would appreciate someone's insights.

Ya nah incorrect has the same turbos as the all n54's. The iS has a different n54 motor technically as it is shared with the 1M's n54 which has like and upgraded hpfp fuel line and sensor, and a few other minor upgrades like materials used or something

i have had it since 2020. Bought it with 37k miles on it. DCT (couldn't find a manual that hadn't been thrashed). Full bolt-on with MHD tune. I had big plans for a clean 550-600hp street build but it just wasnt reasonable to pour money into fuel lines, upgraded turbos, and an LSD and not have the time in the US to enjoy it.

I have been a car enthusiast all my life but this was the first time i was in a position to afford something more than a "slow car, driven fast" type vehicle. I have loved it.

Moving to New Zealand so maybe something JDM in my future but, given the gas prices there ($7 gallon) its like a sensible hybrid of some straight line fun in an EV ... feels like a waste with all the beautiful and fun roads there.

well done n54!
your ride looks awesome.

i've owned my 2013 335is e93 crimson red with saddle brown leather and 7 speed dct for 11 months and love it.

some months ago i found a chart specifically for 335is convertibles and according to their information, your alpine white with coral red leather and 6 speed manual....there were only 14 manufactured for the years of 335is production of 2011, 2012 and 2013.

tell me about the colored 335is badging on the trunk lid....love the black and the red "s".

the car looks lowered - different aftermarket suspension components?

are those 19's?

regards

Thanks! Yeah, I have a whole write up on the rarity of my 335is, lol (below) and you came to the same number I did.

As for the colored badging, I saw it as I was researching black badges and fell in love. I had to steal the idea and I'm very pleased with how it connects with interior with the exterior.

The wheels are 19" - a Petrol square setup (19x8) I pulled from my previous 328i. I'm looking to replace them with a set of 788Ms if I can find a good deal on a used set.

335is Rarity

My 335is is…
- 1 out of 6,993 335is’s ever produced
- 1 out of 3,396 E93 (convertible) 335is’s ever produced
- 1 out of 1,030 6MT 335is’s ever produced
- 1 out of 313 E93 6MT 335is’s ever produced
- 1 out of 44 E93 6MT 335is’s w/ Alpine White exterior
- 1 out of 14 E93 6MT 335is’s w/ Alpine White exterior and Coral Red interior

To put this in perspective compared to the E9x M3:
- 57,627 E9x M3’s ever produced
- 21,156 E9x 6MT M3’s ever produced
- 7,861 E93 M3’s ever produced
- 2,432 E93 6MT M3’s ever produced

Not considering exterior/interior color combo, my 335is is 7.77 (2,432/313) times more rare than an E93 6MT M3, globally

“That’s not an apples to apples comparison since the 335is was an US/Canada only production model,” claims the contrarian. Fine, compared to E9x M3’s in the US/Canada, there are…
- 25,672 E9x M3’s
- 11,325 E9x 6MT M3’s
- 4,006 E93 M3’s
- 1,955 E93 6MT M3’s

Not considering exterior/interior color combo, my 335is is 6.24 (1,955/313) times more rare than a US/Canada released E93 6MT M3

great documentation on the rarity of your variant - well done!
the table that has light blue highlights is the table i referenced to determine that only 14 were manufactured like yours - awesome!

are the 335is badgings painted or wrapped?
what suspension are you running?
how long have you owned?
mileage?
any major mechanicals yet??

Got it in August 2021 with 36k miles. Approaching 50k now as my daily. Stock suspension and no major mechanicals, but I have a waterpump/thermostat kit and OFHG kit in my FCP Euro cart ready for 60K. I've also done walnut blasting an put in a RB Turbo external PCV, which supposedly mitigates the oil build up on the intake valves. My next removal of the intake manifold will determine how effective the mod is.

thanks n54,

stock suspension....your car looks SO low....perhaps its the 19's that make it appear lowered?? looks great.

tell me more about the external PCV....haven't heard of this; i replaced my oem plastic PCV w/a billet aluminum PCV recently during an upgrade of aluminum chargepipe, TiAL blow off valve, NGK spark plugs, Dinan spark plug coils and Burger Motorsport plug and play boost psi increaser "black box".

I haven't done anything to the suspension, so it's probably the wheels.

Love the red accents! Very clean.

Here's the link to the external PCV solution from RB Turbo: https://www.rbturbo.com/products/acc...ternal-pcv-kit

If you've already done the aluminum PCV valve upgrade, this is will actually replace that valve with a passthrough valve that leads to a catch can and then connects to the throttle body. I've already seen a decent amount of oil in the catch can that would have otherwise coated my intake valves.
