OK, just to follow up, the wires i suggested earlier DO WORK !! First time i gave it a shot i got no juice, but i re-tapped the tiny black wire going to the stock amp (its really skinny so the in line splices gotta get a bit lucky to get to the actual wire) and it finally got a connection for the remote turn on... works like a champ and amp turns off when other components do (roughly 90 seconds after you exit the car and lock it). I snapped a photo or two along the way, but anyone who has done an amp install before should be able to handle this pretty easily, especially since everything you need is in the trunk. I grounded to the ground location on the drivers side behind the carpet
Only issue is after turning on, i'm getting some sort of 'service stability' message on iDrive and yellow warning symbol on dash... drove around for 5 min and car felt fine so hoping it goes away in the morning when i fire it back up.. guessing it popped up since i had the negative terminal off for a few hours |

All is well there VP... not sure what's funny, but issue turned out to be I jus had to enter date/time after pulling the negative off... no surprise there.. sub/amp is rockin beautifully and makes the stock hi-if sound incredible... bass is at about 2-5 clicks so stock speakers not over worked at all... I listened to HK predominantly prior to ordering my car and I'm glad I passed... no way the low's compete... the highs are 'fuller' but overall (in my opinion) this is much better for half the price

Sweeper, please be aware that the term 'base audio" is being misused in this thread. The US is probably not going to see base Stereo - just HiFi and Top HiFi/"harman/kardon". The base Stereo system is not what the OP in the thread is working with.

VP, if you have update suggestions/path for this sort of system, would be great. I like the stock interface, just want a better amp and nicer speakers (maybe some dynamat in the doors given how the speakers are mounted so close to them).

The F30 uses the same E9x HiFi harness (42-pin) and the same Top HiFi/Logic7/Harman Kardon harness (20-pin).
The pin assignments are the same with the exception that the F30 uses a center speaker standard with the HiFi (7-channel vs the E9x 6-channel OEM amp). |
