I own the red sedan, the spotless white coupe belongs to "snareman" and gave me the idea to get under there and start shining.

lol that's nuts, I had dinner with him and some other E90posters at Olive Garden last week, also saw his car all shined up at the last meet, but never thought to look underneath.

I take the wheels off mid-summer and wash them and around the wells (suspension pieces). I have summer and winters so there are two other times the wheels are washed off the car (but I don't do a mid-winter wheel swap....).

My wheels are 197s and the only way to clean inside effectively is to remove them. Some of the 5 spoke styles are probably washable on axle.

I also spotted a little rust mark on the hub of the rear wheel (on a car we bought only a month ago) so I cleaned and silver sprayed that (couldn't be bothered to go back to the dealership).

Put some anti seize on the hubs when putting on your winter wheels, they rust like mofos in the winter, and I had a hard time taking one of my winter wheels off in the spring.

Yes, I do that every time I change the wheels over, makes it much easier. Some people even strip and paint the actual axle ends.

My wife just pissed me off in a major way. This will be the ultimate waste of time to get even. LMAO!! It looks great and I can't wait to see it on my ride.

I've never given much thought to doing that, mainly because I don't have a jack or car ramps to use at home. However, my car was on a lift the other day and MAN! it's dirty down there!

After I found this thread I feel less crazy now.

I washed my car today and I was telling my wife what I did. And she told me that I'm nuts.

On my case I do not polish. But I water sprayed and sponge with soap as far as my arms can reach. Not only from behind, but from sides and front. And every 3 months I clean the engine bay too.

My view is that the entire car deserves care. So... why not!!

:-)

I clean and polish the undercarriage at least two times a year! Mufflers and suspension parts are sparkling and clean. Kinda looks good when viewing from the rear. I live in Florida, so it's relatively clean under there anyway. Engine bay is another area I take pride in....you can eat off of it!

+1 Your paint needs some loving attention! But seriously, it looks awesome. You definitely get a WOW and A for effort from me Now go correct that paint!
