Coilover Question
Does anyone have coilovers on? Can you advise what brand you bought and how ride quality is with them. Decided I think that's what I want as next mod but never had them before so want to get opinions of what to expect. I can tell you the wheel gap on the 340 xdrive is killing me!
Sorry realized I put in photo section but cant delete. Last edited by jtbazz; 12-02-2017 at 05:25 PM.. |

If you're not going to track it go with KW V1, the ride is night and day from the stock suspension. It will handle better and you're going to really enjoy driving it. It's the best Mod I've done to my mine. I only downside is you must be careful going over speed bump and driveways other than your love them. the beauty of Coilover is you can adjust them to your liking it's not a 340 but Here is my 435 GC XDrive thumbnail (2) by [url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/156601468@N08/[/url], on Flickr thumbnail (4) by l, on Flickr thumbnail (1) by , on Flickr |

The coilover part isn't the cost I am having a hard time dealing with, its all the install charge quotes I am getting. I am be quoted 10 hrs everywhere and about $850 just to install on top of $1500 for the coilers. I was hoping to be about $1500 all in.
I missed a set of new KW comforts that fit my car for $1100 shipped on the forum too that a member was selling! |

Thanks for sharing the budget target. $1.6K is about the entry price plus installation. I suggest to explore KW Street Comfort or Bilstein B16 PSS10 for a slightly higher price.

Do you have adaptive suspension now? if so that complicates things some. A lot of folks just go with dinan springs and stock struts with shockware and call it a day. it reduces body roll, wheel well gap, and the shockware provides better handling.
I wouldnt recommend the ST coilovers unless you have the struts painted because they are just a steel galvanized strut and will rust based on you living in PA.

KW, H&R, and Bilstein are pretty much the best brand for street coilovers. They'll all ride comfortably and handle well. The only thing is Bilstein doesn't go as low as KW/H&R. From the pics I've seen you can't actually eliminate all of the wheel gap with it. But it's also tuned more for performance.
I know a lot of people like BC coilovers and they do go very low, but they have a very stiff ride in my experience and the camber plates get noisy after a while due to the bearings. You just missed a lot of Black Friday sales, but keep your eye out on the forums for some KW V1s or H&R Street Performance coils. |

I am not in the lowest position on the coils... so there is still a little more room to go down; however, I find that this ride height is great with my setup as I have the M Performance front splitter... this helps make the car look even lower from the front and any lower would make daily driving difficult and make me nervous pulling into parking garages and what not... if this wasn't my daily I'd probably want to get more ridiculous with it and go lower. |

Thanks for the responses. I don't want to go extremely low, I just want to eliminate some of the gap on the xDrive. Looks like I will do KW V1 or Bilstein's.
