2017 F33 Retrofit power fold mirrors not working

Hi,

I am new to the forum but not new to BMWs.

I recently purchased a 2017 UK spec 440i F33 and the only feature missing was power fold mirrors so I thought I could get a set and code them in.

I have memory seats so the mirrors were already 5 pin so I didn't need to wire Linbus, the switch I purchased has the fold button and was a straight swap in with all the connections and wires matching.

I used E-Sys and added 431 to the FA, 430 was already there strangely!

The mirrors will move like normal, dip on reverse etc. When I press the button to fold nothing happens, well sort of, once the button is pressed you can no longer adjust the mirror, I assume the car thinks the mirrors are folded?? Press the button again and the mirrors are adjustable again!

The seller inisists the mirrors are power fold and I have no reason not to believe him.

I read somewhere that folding mirrors might be an issue on the convertible on a 2015 onward car, my assumption that was using the key not direct from the switch?

Any help would be great!

Option 430 is the inside mirror tone down. Whitch modules (ECUs) did you code with the new FA?

I coded FEM BODY, from my research I thought that was the only one?

Sorry I remembered wrong. The SA430 is the outside/inside automatic dip, the SA431 is the inside automatic dip. For the folding mirrors the car is comming from the factory with both 430 and 431. (430 cant be ordered without 431)

So you said that the 430 was already present, then the door contact should have had the folding botton.

Is the dimming function on the outside mirrors working? and on the inside?

The FEM is the module to VO code

What is the best way to test automatic dip?

The car definitely doesn't have the button inside, the memory seats and mirror positions are saved to the key(s) but no power fold!

I've watched this through, the wiring doesn't need modifying on mine as it is 5 pin (lin) not 6 pin already, again I think that is due to the memory seats and mirrors!

Could you post photos of the old mirrors connectores, and maybe with the colored part removed to see the small ecu inside

Isn’t powerfold 313? Dimming is 430 as far as I know.

Interesting, all the coding I saw on YouTube was around 430 and 431!
I will see if I had 313 coded at all.

313 is not for the F series. Folding mirror is 431!

431 is internal mirror dimming and not folding mirror. 430 is folding mirror so you need to have both in fa. If you have memory seat try to vo code SM ecu with 430 option inside

Both are coded in but still no fold!

VO for FEM definitely, not sure about SM? I'm not very experienced with the coding side!

Ok bit of an update.

I thought my coding was right so did a bit more digging!

I got the mirrors on eBay and the seller insisted they were power fold, I had no reason not to believe him and he was even providing a power fold switch in the sale, I asked him to keep the switch because I needed 4 windows on my switch and his was only for 2.

Anyway I have now stripped down one of the mirrors, it hasn't got the power fold wiring or motor 😞 so now I am in a debate with eBay and PayPal trying to get my money back.

I'm quite confident the guy didn't know they were not power folding but that doesn't help either of us!

I made a mistake by trying to return them through eBay but selected that they were not right for the car (thinking my coding was wrong) he rejected it and eBay closed the case, I should have returned them under item not as described, which now I know is actually true!

I'm gutted and wasted so much time.

I can't afford to buy another set at the moment unless I can get a refund.

I will update when I get another set.

The SA430 is the outside/inside automatic dip, the SA431 is the inside automatic dip. For the folding mirrors the car is comming from the factory with both 430 and 431.
