Garage Flooring-Epoxy or Plastic tile?

I am going to be finishing my garage in the next month or so, do you guys rec. the checkered snap together squares (Black and Gray) OR the gray (with blue chip) Epoxy coating surface?
Has anyone had any bad experiences with the plastic squares lifting up when you turn your wheels inside the garage?
Also I am going to be finishing the drywall and painting everything, I have seen the other posts on here for "what color should I paint my garage for detailing purposes" so I think I know the answer to that question.

I just ordered this http://www.racedeck.com/ . I didn't want anything that was totally permanent and hard to get up when it's a little worn or totally uncleanable. This seemed to be the best thing I found that would stay put. If I had a cement floor though, I'd definitely go with an epoxy surface coating.

This is what happened when my Park SMart mat stuck to my tire the other day (I can't look at the picture without laughing either, so go ahead, it does look like a giant condom).

I honestly used Regular old Behr Porch and Floor paint. I have had ZERO issues with etiher this car or the Vette that have parked on it for 3 years. You can get whatever color you want and you don't have to wait to drive on it like Epoxy.

Just my $.02
(If I had the $ I prolly would have done racedeck, but we were house poor)

i think the tiles look sick but i feel like the epoxy will hold up a lot longer, and it is a lot easier to clean if you will be detailing any cars in there.

I epoxied the floor at my parents house. The whole process took about a week and was a huge pain in the ass. Its not hard, but it takes patience and planning. Its easy to do right and make it look nice, even easier to make look like absolute shit. The degreasing was a pain in the ass. We used muriatic acid from a masonary supply shop to etch the concrete and then applied 2 healthy coats of epoxy and put the chips on top. I suggest using the big chips if your going to use them. The floor would be slippery as hell where you dont put them down. I used a lot of small chips and it makes it a PITA to mop out but it looks fantastic. I dont remember which brand I used but its not the rustoleum crap at home depot. That epoxy peels within weeks of applying it. Good luck!

I used epoxy and I don't think I did anything wrong, followed the directions at least, but after parking on the surface it started to stick to the tires and pulled off the floor. If I had to do it again I would put down two coats.

Crappy epoxy, improper floor prep, cure time, etc. will all destroy an epoxy floor. I put down 2 coats epoxy and 1 coat poly to seal it.

It hasn't been mopped in about 4 months and its almost a year old. No visible wear and tear and looks brand new when its clean. I also used a couple colors of the micro sized chips to give it a stone like appearance. Looks much better in day light.

I would suggest not buying the sears or lowes or home depot crap. It is crap. There are many different grades of epoxy. You want to lean more towards the professional grades. The stuff I used was 1 grade under what the considered professional due to quick dry time and difficulty to lay down. If you're interested I'll get you the name of the company. They were great to work with. We were running low on epoxy despite the guy telling us it should be enough for our sq. footage and he sent us out some more for free without a problem.

For etching, use pure muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) found at swimming pool or masonry stores. Degrease the living shit out of the floor before applying or it will not stick. Prep is the most important part.

Epoxy- looks great, good value but mixed finish quality and may take a long time 3. Plastic tiles- quick, looks great but expensive and questionable durability I don’t really like the idea of painting as it can look very cheap. I’m swaying toward the clip-together tiles but prices look like £275+. What would you use? Any suggestions for another flooring?

How do you deal with the moisture with tiles? They seem like they would be a PITA in a snowy environment. Unless your garage floor has drains etc. Also, dirt will accumulate under the tiles. How do you clean up spilled oil or any fluid while doing maintenance on your vehicle?

Epoxy does not seem to have any of the negatives tiles potentially have.
