well 20psi was somewhat of an estimate - i'm not sure exactly what boost levels Brian plans on running, but 20psi is in the neighborhood. and yes, the plan is to do this on the stock bottom end. recall that its getting tuned by Nick G, so we should be pretty safe even at 20psi. the goal is to go after the "stock block/head boosted S52" power record, but don't expect that right away, as i'm sure Brian has some saving up to do before he can afford to just blow his motor and rebuild.

sorry for the dumb question, but is there a reason for having such a huge exhaust tip on the m?

other than wanting to look unique and different for a euro, it makes for a much better straight through design than any dual or quad exhaust system i've seen under an M Coupe.

would love to...unfortunately i'm tied up tonight and i'm going to O-town for the weekend (i leave tomorrow just after lunch time). Brian won't see this until dinnertime tonight after he gets off work, but i'll tell him to have a look and post up. let me know how you do at the track with the DR's though.

i'm sure there are some great deals on some used (and in good condition) S52B32's. but as Shawn said, they got an M52 motor replacement instead, which they got for well under $1000.

*UPDATE*

Well Brian's turbo M Coupe is up and running again...he's back, this time with an M52 on stock bottom end (for now) with new rings, bearings, and main studs. The head has re-lapped valves, S52 cams, cam trays, and valve springs, as well as new valve seals and retainers. Head gasket is a .140" mls for 9:1 CR. Everything else is the same setup from the S52. Basically it's a fresh motor, and bc we replaced many oem parts, it runs smooth as silk. Started up first time no hesitation on same base tune as before. Clutch is shot, so Brian will need to find a solution soon b/c it'll be on Nick G's dyno in about 3 weeks.

some of you may also be wondering why the Work Meisters are on Shawn's Roadster instead of Brian's Coupe. well Shawn got tired of the OEM wheels in no timer whatsoever (what else is new), and since Brian's car was out of commission for such a long time, he let Shawn borrow the Meisters. well now Brian wants some CCW Classics with gold centers, though he isn't in the market for them yet. so i don't know whether he'll take back the Meisters until he can afford the CCW's, or if he'll just let Shawn keep them while he rolls on Shawn's OEM wheels.
