So the Harman Kardon amps are heaps of crap, correct?

Because mine just crapped the bed in the loudest way possible, and when I dug into it I found that the unit in my 2014 335ix GT was dated 2017.

I have read that BAV Logic rebuilds them, they go for 600ish used on ebay and 1400ish new on everywhere.
Are these things heaps of junk and is there a better replacement that I can't find somehow?

it's unlikely your 2014 model GT got an amp produced 3 yrs after it was shipped. lol

likely production date is: Sept 17, 2006... which would make sense. I've had an e90 and now 2016 335GT and i've had zero issues with the HK systems in both of them... yes, you can upgrade the amp, but you need to impedance match the speakers to the amp output or you can cause the amp to pop or pop the speaker. I've completely gutted my 2000 Z3 M Roadsters HK system and replaced it with a Rockford Fosgate full range amp and MTX ClassB Sub amp; but I also rewired entire audio system, replaced all the speakers and installed new crossovers and added a 1F capacitor and 40A fuse to protect the battery and equipment from power surges... I'd get it repaired or replaced with used one... check local wrecking yrds... you might get lucky

The poster is correct about the date of manufacture of the amp implying that it is a replacement to the original, because:
1. BMW uses the DD/MM/YY date format;
2. This part number (9393185) was introduced starting 11/01/2015 and could have not been found in 2014 MY car unless it is a replacement.

Markoff Chaney I'm surprised to see so much dirt on the amp's mounting brackets and body. Is there moisture/dirt in the boot where the amp is installed in your car?

No moisture, just dust. The mounting bracket cleaned up under running water.
