What is filtered air pipe???

Hi guys,

Just heading down to pick up my 330d from BMW after doing an egr cooler recall. I’ve had a noise on the car at 60-70mph. They’ve taken it for a test drive and have diagnosed a faulty filtered air pipe. They’ve quoted £332 to change it. My question is this just the air intake pipe at the front of the car? If so I’ll source my own and fit myself

Thanks guys

Here is a link to a Filtered Air Pipe at FCP Euro. May not be for your year/model, but it does look like the intake pipe to me.

Its the "turbo inlet", not the "intake"

The BMW plastics in the engine bay are very prone to becoming brittle and breaking. The turbo inlet pipe, and the charged air pipe are prime examples.

Depending on how long you plan on keeping the car, I would recommend getting an aftermarket turbo inlet because if you get the OEM replacement, you'll just have to replace it later.

And the aftermarket inlets are a nice upgrade - read here starting on page 8 https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...1656337&page=8
