How hard was it to remove the cover & how did you go about it? Did you have to replace it after?
Did you use a special tool to hold it in place?

so i removed it by hitting in a flathead about .25" in from the edge, its all metal so its pretty hard. that being said though there is a tool i used it to remove the sprocket as i didn't want timing to jump going backwards on the chain.

it was about 200 bucks but didnt want to risk throwing the motor off timing. Im struggling to find a gasket but they all look the same. will likely order one for an older n55 as the bolt pattern is the same.

that gasket wont be here for a while so im at a stand still till it does come in as there is no way in hell im going to redo this shit lolol. so until it comes in, ill just have to wait.

would be happy to sell you the kit after im done with it, but in the mean time get a gasket on order, i used the oe from fcpeuro (comes up when you search n55 vacuum gasket).

i did use the special tool as i didn't want the chain to do anything funny during loosening. is it needed... id say unlikely as long as you can hold the sprocket in palce with out the chain tensioner moving too much.

That being said the tool also will help you remove the seal, and when you are done, install the new one. if you want to buy it off me ill sell it to you pm me, i just bought it and has been used once lol.

I have the same situation
I need to change my n55 engine and the engines i found have the new high pressure pump and the one i have is the older type like n54 hpfp. And for my information if i want too change the vaccum pump from my engine to the new one so i need to change also the internal guide rail because it has to part numbers ( 11 31 7 523 884 to Mar '12) ( 11 41 7 618 941 from Mar '12)
So if some one passed by the same situation please send more informations
