Biggest tire size for 328 sportline
I plan on changing out the run flats with Michelin PSS, and I was wondering what the widest size is I could run on stock rims without any rubbing issues?
Thanks! |

Which stock rims? Size? I'm guessing 18x8.5?
You could safely do 235, maybe 245 even. Could always have them mount the tires just to take a look at how the sizes look. Some may not mind 245s while others may say it's too much tire for a 8.5" wheel. |

If 245 was too much why would bmw sell their vehicles with 255 tire on a 8.5? My car with the 401's are 19x8 225/40 and 19x8.5 255/35 and the tire looks perfectly fine. But the OP needs to provide more info on what wheels his car came with if he wants any help.

My OEM setup was 225 which is a 8.9" wide tire. 235 is 9.3" so I figured that would still fit (it's what I'm using on my aftermarket 9" wheels and doesnt seem to have stretching, although I've seen people also use 245 on 9" wheels). 245 is 9.7" which I was guessing could still fit even though the tire is 1"+ more than the wheel width. Maybe 255 fit fine on a 8.5" wheel, but they are 10" wide and also fit on 10" wheels. I'm running 265 on my 10" rear wheels which are 10.4", but have seen 275s on those. Like I said, choose what you think looks best, there seems to be a wide range of what can 'fit' a given wheel width. If bmw puts both 225 (8.9" tires) and 255 (10") tires on the same 8.5" wheel (I suspect the 255s may be on a different wheel though) then go for it if you like the look. |

245 will look great on those wheels, 245/45-18 or 245/40-18 depending on if you want slightly taller or shorter diameter compared to stock. |

Edit: Just for reference how a 255 tire looks on a 8.5" wheel (not my car) this car has 255's all around Last edited by Ih8usrnms; 12-17-2013 at 01:07 PM.. |

I just put 245/40/18s on my 18x8 square wheels, looks fine, no rubbing of any kind. Wouldn't try going past 245 on 8 wheels though, if you have 8.5 you can prob go for 255 or go a staggered setup.

I'm sure you could probably run 275s and not have drastic safety impacts on the wheel (whether it rubs that may be another issue entirely). |

I think if you went staggered, and used aftermarket wheels (like 9" up front 10" out back), you could get away with 245/265.
I'm curious to know as well what our cars can "fit" on non-standard wheels. on my current 8 and 8.5, 225/255 fits fine....
