I wonder if installers really do that or he just claims that. Ammonia is specifically singled out as something not to even clean the application surface with, so I can't imagine using it directly on the adhesive!

It seems the purpose of it is to let you slide around the lip a bit before it really sticks, in which case, I'd use what vinyl wrap installers use for wet applications, which is a very very light solution made up of baby shampoo and water.

yeah, I would use a diluted soap water, way better than windex.
but anyway, I am planning on getting the aero lip, so looking into possible options.

the OEM lip is installed using some BMW adhesive glue instead of double sided tape. if you look around, you might find the PDF for it.

yeap, I have one and you can't take it off once you install it. I tried removing it and it just tears the plastic.
