On cold starts, the rpms would go up and down rapidly with your foot on the brake, take your foot off and the rpms dropped and the car felt fine. If you push the brake again it will either shoot up the rpms or fluctuate again. After a few minutes or second with the car on those symptoms go away.

First code that popped up before driving it home was a P116E, which pertains to the MAF sensor.
This was exactly my experience with my E92 2007 325i. The previous owner had installed a MAF sensor off of Ebay. I used an OBD2 scanner and the MAF sensor reading was 0. I replaced the MAF with an OEM part from VDO (Continental) 5WK97508Z. First time I used Autodoc too.

P116E was resolved after that!
