How to Remove HUD trim?
Anyone done this and have any recommendations? Does it just pop off?
The HUD reflection has been driving me nuts on my morning commute. I was just going to stick some felt on it but now I'm thinking of removing the trim and having it flocked, wrapped or maybe even just matte spray paint would fix it. |

Are you sure it is the trim which is doing the reflecting? I get a reflection from my HUD now and then, but I think it is coming from the HUD glass, not the trim. It would be frustrating to go to all the trouble of fixing the trim, but still have the reflections.

How about some matte black vinyl tape? Not electrical tape, but something designed for graphics/stripes, etc.

I'm down for whatever eliminates the glare. But I would like to get that trim out so I could do a nice job. It's so cramped up there and a weird angle for my hands.

I suggest going to a sign/vinyl shop that may be able to help with that.

Not sure if this will help or not -
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=62_0560 It does show the trim piece. Since it doesn't show any screws coming up from below, I would guess it just snaps on, but I don't really know.

Just work each corner out slowly. It just pops off. Putting it back in may be tricky though with the tabs closer to the steering wheel.

Awesome thanks. Yea there are many "wrapping" places around my area. Some advertise "velvet" wraps which sounds like the perfect finish for this piece.

Here's a photo of what I mean. And it's kind of tricky to get a decent shot so this probably doesn't even look that bad... But it is actually very bright. |
