Need help finding my perfect CarPlay unit- money no object.

Hello all, I have a Logic 7 equipped car with CIC. I would like to add CarPlay but I have a bunch of criteria that make me feel like I'll have to retrofit NBT. Essentially, I want a unit that uses the OEM mic and also does not connect through the AUX. Now while the 12Volt unit does this, there is one thing I hate about it: the home button to get back to iDrive saying "Mr12Volt" instead of "BMW" as on the OEM systems or even on the Bimmertech one. if anyone can direct me to a unit that has what I outlined it will be much appreciated.

Mr 12 volt is the only one that doesn't use the Aux as far as I know.
If you can update the BMW head unit far enough I believe it supports
carplay and android.

there are many video's on ytube the above one tells the difference between
going cheap and not so cheap.

This sparked my interests for car play again. Stumbled upon this video https://www.youtube.com/shorts/LgxaOGzJK7Y. Maybe you can change it to the BMW logo?

So did you change it? and to what?

Seems like a common android function .
But maybe not Carplay.

The perfect carplay unit doesn't exist unless it's an OEM integration. That being said Mr12Volt is probably the best of the bunch.

I dont know how i stumbled upon this post, maybe because usually i go on the classifieds one only but i’m glad i found it as i’ve never heard of mr12volts carplah solution and it’s exactly what i’m looking for. Something without loosing audio quality and this seems to even make it better. Just ordered one 🙏🏼

You can actually change the bootloader logo that pops up when you hit the home button on your iDrive for Mr12Volt

Go to Settings -> System -> Factory Mode -> Advanced Setting -> In the password prompt type "688612" -> Boot Logo -> Pick the BMW emblem

For anyone that has a Mr12volt, how's the boot time and connection time?

well that just completely changed my opinion on the 12volt and rendered this thread useless... here's to hoping it'll work with logic 7

I use the RoadTop one on ebay. Uses OEM mic. Originally it connects via AUX only but I messaged the seller and they gave me an update that works with using the stock BT audio.

No big issues with it yet. I would say sometime BT connection is just slow at first or I have to re-pair but eh it's not a big deal.

But if money is no obejct I would assume the BimmerTech one is your best option?

the bimmertech unfortunately goes thru the aux port, unless there's a new version. roadmap one sounds interesting will check it out

Completed my mr12volt install last weekend, everything working well and audio seems to be great. I’ve been using aux so long that I feel the audio is better than before. Only thing I can’t do is change the logos on this new box but not a big deal

Boot time is very quick, you only see the logo you picked for about 5 seconds before you’re on the interface. My favorite part is that it runs in the background for a few minutes after you turn off your car. So if you were to turn off the car, fill up gas, and get back in, the CarPlay screen will pop up as soon as your finger hits the push to start, connected to your phone and everything already. On my IPhone 13 it used to connect almost instantly like 3 seconds but after getting the 15 Pro it’s more like 10. Not sure if it’s the phone or the unit but just throwing that out there.
