adding only boost....Dinan Sport tuner
Hey guys,
I was hoping one of you more knowledgeable car enthusiasts could enlighten me. I have a f30 335i PWG. i had a JB4, but sold it. wasn't consistent. would drop power sometimes completely at 5-6K, etc. it was a lot of power and this may sound lame, but i don't know if i want that much torque. i live in a busy city with a lot of traffic, only have a mile commute, just not practical for me. so i'm looking at the dinan sport tuner that just came out. it looks like it just increases boost level up to +4psi over stock. is it ok do add up to 4psi on our engines without any timing modifications, etc.? could this be harmful only adding boost and no other variables or does 4psi max not seem that harmful? i ran map 1 on my jb4 and i think that is only 4psi over stock, but my understanding was that the jb4 had many other variables to compensate the additional boost. would love some insight from some smarter people. thanks guys! i was also looking at the mppk, if you had thoughts on that over dinan sport, i would love the input |

Dinan tuner is perfectly fine on your stock car.
Is there a reason why you are not considering the JB+? It is identical to the Dinan tuner except the Bluetooth connection

if it is really cold or slick out i think that is cool that i can lose some torque so i don't have to slip around |

Dinan's has an app available as well. The iOS app isn't out yet (although I haven't checked lately), but is available Android.
Love mine.

I've had the Dinan Sport on my N20 for a couple weeks now. The only issue I have is gas quality. The 91 I get around Phoenix and at temps in the 90's has caused audible pinging (and obvious timing pull back) at the +3 boost setting. BUT.... this motor is seeing upwards of 22 psi boost with the +3 setting and might be more temperamental than the N54/N55 engines...
I've settled on the +2 setting and haven't noticed anything bad. |

22lbs? Stock is ~17..so adding 3 should put you at 20....are you logging it or having it show that high on an app (Fusion/etc.)?
