M240 F23 Convertible Boot Installed Subwoofer
Hello,
I would like to install a 12" low profile sub in the boot of my F23 convertible as this is the only size i can fit in there. I plan to install the 4" Focal speakers front+rear with the Focal 8" under seat subs. I would like more bass than this so also want the 12" sub in the boot but i am concerned with it being a convertible that i won't get much bass from the sub in the boot (both with the roof up or down) Has anyone tried similar and have any advice for me? Thanks. |

I have the M240 coupe and stuffed a full size JL 12W3v3 in it with a 1.25cuft box, but I also have a JL 13TW5v1 in my Tundra. The 13 hits harder and lower than the full size. Granted I have a zapco 750watt amp on the 13 and only a 600watt JL on my 12. All that said, yes you lose bass if you use a sealed box in the boot! I would get the JL12TW3 and put it in a ported box if you can find a way to vent the port into your cabin. Thank me later!
Edit: I would get the Morel drop ins over the Focals or just put a good amp on your HK's if your car has them. I put in a JLVXi 600/6 amp on the morels and love them. If you need some HK, I'll sell the ones I removed from my car. Last edited by O Stater; 11-30-2023 at 08:18 PM.. |

adding a sub with box will always be a compromise.
another war is to use custom built stealth boxes made by visual ice here in the uk. there not cheap £160.00gbp 12"s are too much as the depth they need to be they would be too much. 10"s are perfect tho. ive ordered 2 pods,1 each side for f23. il post results soon as i get them. 1 sub may be enough, but 2 guarantees better results. |

when considering what size speaker to use i did communicate with visual ice.
he recommended me not to use a 12" as his builds dont give the the volume required that the sub box needs to be. so i ordered 2 x 10s |
