Hiding key hole?

Hey guys, I wanted to ask if anyone of you did hide (filled) the key hole on the doors?

I'm not a "tuner" at all, basically I came to that idea on one forum in a thread about security, where some people said that they hidden the key hole and only use remote control, so that thieves can't break their locks and get into the car. First I though that it's waaay too much for me as I want to keep my Z4MC as original as possible, but today as I walked around the car I noticed that there's no key hole on the passenger side and that it actually looks very nice (I have Sepang bronze and the key hole is aluminium so it sticks out a lot).

So what do you think? Is it too much?

This is a popular mod on the E9X 3 Series. Do you want to remove the lock or just cover the hole? A RHD cars left door handle should take care of that.

Personally I like the idea of being able to unlock the doors if the battery dies.

Not sure, probably would remove the whole lock and replace with RHD sepang bronze door handle (any idea where to order one?).

eh, thats overrated =)

trunk has a keyhole, which needs no power, and the battery is in the trunk. but then again, if I were to fill one keyhole (giggity), it WOULD be the trunk one

Speaking of getting a rhd cover... Can ANYBODY source ANY new euro parts here in the states anymore? Think I remember a thread a while back stating no more euro part ordering..

I would love to get my hands on a set of euro bumper covers..

^Correct, you need a Euro source to process the order for you.

IMHO, too much work for such a little visual change / minimal theft deterrent.

Use your trunk keyhole (as inTgr8r indicated, your coupe's trunk keyhole should be under the rear roundel) or tap a wire to somewhere under the car where only you know what it's for. This is what most guys do on the X5 as there is only ONE keyhole for the entire car.

I tried to make this happen for my "deer repair" and got push back everywhere I tried to go to order a euro front bumper.

BMW dealers will certainly not order it for you. Perhaps you could find that long lost cousin in german, have them order it and ship it to you...

That's the problem with the euro bumpers. You can get them pretty cheap on eBay but the shipping runs close to $1,000

It was supposed to be a security measure not a cosmetic tune, I often travel to Slovakia and there are some very envy people + very handy thieves

For the cosmetic solution you can get plastic color matching plugs.
