MMI Prime Connections
Hello. Not an e9x related question but the audio community is a lot more active than other forums and figured someone here would know.
I have a 2010 e60 535 and am looking to install an MMI Prime unit into it. A fellow forum member is selling a unit brand new in box that I am considering buying. Only problem is he bought his as part of E70 X5 kit. Does anyone know if the harness to connect the MMI box to the head unit is the same or different? Both cars have hifi audio.

If fellow forum member has the same headunit as you then there is no difference.
CIC or NBT and that's it. You should actually verify if they bought the right headunit for E series car. https://www.bimmer-tech.net/category...y-mmi-retrofit The unit itself is mostly hijacking the large Quadlock connector & Screen connector. Then there is microphone. Backup camera is optional and nice to have. MMI unit itself has some switches that you set accord to your car options. I recently did MMI install too. Quite powerful addition for my 2007 tech. Don't know about e60 but for e90 it was really tight to get everything fitted in a way they are easily serviceable. |

Interesting. So the E70 has CIC and my E60 has CIC, so it should all connect? I wasnt sure if anything about wiring going to the headunit was different between the different chassis. I know at the amp, the MY2010 e60 was different and resembles the F30s instead of the '04-09 e60s
I heard its a tight fit but I thought I read the e60 has a little more space to play with. |
