I gotta have a V8!

After all the pondering of what brand and model I want to go in the garage I have made up my mind. I am still researching "bug a boos" for each year model (carbon, vanos, cps, clutch amongst others) and the e39 M5 is the winner.

The 01-03's have subtle differences and going through all that is taking some time.

Prices are great. Finding the right car is the time consuming part of the process. The money I save from not getting new again will go into the car.
The fun part IMO.

The body is one of my favorites of all BMW's and the motor has just the right amount of grunt. Modding potentials are vast and I like the fact of being able to transform a sleeper into a beast. My buddy at Stett is going to love me......

Here are some idea pics I have saved. Simple to wild.
I will post some pics of what I end up getting as soon as I find it and get it to Texas. Most of the nicer cars seem to be in CAL and AZ and FLA.

Ive kind of followed your posts and your threads and i thought you were more of a Camaro type guy lol . But nonetheless e39 m5 is dead sexy with the right mods. Good luck. I'm currently killing myself trying to figure out what car i want as well. But one thing is pretty much certain i want a dam V8.

I like the Camaro but it will never give me the satisfaction this car will. This will be the 5th BMW for me. I tossed a P car around too. Money wise I don't know that I have seen a better value for a comfortable, functional, fast and well made vehicle than the M5. I like classics.

Yep. I have found several with under 50K miles for around $25,000-$28,000. The need for a new clutch around 40K miles (depending on driver) has me looking hard for the replacement having been performed. It seems the clutch may be a bit small for the power from what I have read.

I recently saw a ECE spec "grey market" M5 at a local shop undergoing restoration. It's very nice. You have some great taste for cars. Good luck finding one that you like.

Great choice! The E39 is a classic. It looks excellent with those LMs on it too!

E39's are solid compared to the current generation E60. You can pick up a pre-done dinan set up M5 for around 30-40k. All you REALLY need to lookout for is Vanos problems. Have a good mechanic look over the car with a magnifying glass before purchase.

Shut up.

As soon as I think I am done I see something else. Kind of like women. I am middle aged and never married. I want them all.

My mistake was looking at the already tricked out cars for sale on 6speed.

Crazy deals on P cars. Some of those guys have some serious stables.

Yep. There are alot of staged Dinan cars out there. I have my eye on a black one near Denver. I am still reading about the Vanos issue.
