Concerning oil consumption on high mileage 50i
Got my first car about a month ago with a very high mileage (181k+) but in very good conditions, I already put around 1.5k miles on it and about to add a second quart of top up of oil, the oil level keeps gradually falling and the exaust system is all oiled up, with excess blue ish smoke constantly coming out of the car (might be cuz of the weather, we are still in the 30-40 degrees during the day). I believe the problem is in the valve stem seals as there is absolutely no oil leaks whatsoever. I am afraid of the cost of replacing the seals and wonder if liqui moly has a good synthetic oil that could minimize the oil consumption.

How does the enging sound while running? I would assume that if the valve seals are that worn you would hear a little excess valvetrain noise like maybe some rattling.
I'm not sure if changing oil types would help much especially if it's burning that much oil, that seems like a lot to me. |

Did you buy the car from a dealer? I would look into state laws on selling used cars with existing issues.
The N63 v8 is notorious for valve stem seals before 100k miles, the issue didn't just pop up in the last 1500 miles. |

Try Liquid Moly Motor Oil Saver. Need 2 cans for your N63. If your seals are beginning to harden this product will swell the seals and help defer the need to replace the seals. Worked for my N63 and my indy BMW shop uses this as well. This product will not work if your seals are gone. The way I see it no harm in trying. Also, normal to need to add a quart of oil every 1,500 to 2,000 miles. Since I used Motor Oil Saver, I've been able to go 3,000 miles before needing to add a quart.
For cars with really bad seals, my indy uses the 10-60 weight Liquid Moly. I'm told it stops the smoking. Most important thing with this N63 engine is frequent oil changes...5,000 mile intervals or less. |

The dealer did my valve steams and everything associated, and the car still burns a quart every 1000 miles. It used to burn a quart every 200 miles before the valve job.
The valve job was done nearly 4 years ago, and other than oil consumption I don't notice any adverse issues, the engine runs strong. I don't see any blue smoke during idle, can't tell if there is any under load as I can't see it. |

There are a couple 'official' and informative threads on this forum about the "recall - not a recall", Customer Care Program, Bang class-action lawsuit or whatever they called it.
I got my valve stem seals all replaced at no cost to me, about a $6-7k job at the dealer, when mine started consuming oil at 59k miles. This is most likely your issue. Somehow I can't find that massive thread on the search. (What's new....) Not sure if the window has closed on that free work though.
