Probably stupid Question about BM3

Hello,
I hope everyone is doing well. I could not find the answer but felt I had to ask after reading about battery discharge because BM3 OBD connector was plugged in over night.
Here is the question, I have been using the OBDLink MX+ OBD2 Bluetooth Scanner with Bimmercode and Bimmerlink. I plug in the adapter, change settings, etc, then disconnect the OBD connector. Would I have to leave my OBD plugged in all the time after I install a tune, or can I disconnect from the app and unplug the OBD connector, like Bimmercode & Bimmerlink?
Sorry if the question seems dumb, I raised the question due the battery discharge comments and the “slim design so your left leg would not hit the connector”. Thanks again for your help and time,
Ian
