Paint job

I recently bought a 2018 BMW 340i XDRIVE and it is the factory imperial blue metallic color. While I like it, but I would rather have it gloss black. Does anyone have an idea of paint costs in the Indianapolis area?

Arm and two legs, a kidney for good measure.

Labor cost is astronomical and aftermarket paint job will never look as good as factory paint job. You might as well get it wrapped for $2000.

I thought the same thing when I got my car (also Imperial Blue, also not my first choice), but it grew on me, polishing it and getting a nice coating draws out a really deep, dark tone in overcast/indirect sunlight and at night, blue is more evident on a bright day. I’d live with it for a few months and see if you change your mind, set aside a bit of money each month- then you could get a wrap or put it toward other mods. Also, having gloss black/chrome elements changes the look of the car as a whole IMO and going for the black can definitely make the car look more aggressive overall, same with wheels

Sell the blue car, go find a black car to buy. Thats your best option if you really want a black car.

Doing a full color change is CRAZY expensive to do it the right way. Engine and drivetrain would have to come out to do the engine bay and underside. You'd have to do door jambs, and a ton of other places you wouldn't typically paint if you were just touching up (or repairing after an accident).

You'd literally need to strip it down to a bare chassis to do a proper color change.

Either wrap your car black and know that there will still be places with blue popping through (engine bay, door jambs, etc), sell your car and replace it with a factory painted black car, or live with blue...

Selling and buying black is great idea, or going with the wrap not only changes color but protects the soft bmw paint.

A good car wrap goes for $4k to $5k.

Price will be an arm and leg for a full color change done the right way. A respray of the same color is about 15k-20k.
