Speaker has two plug in ports? which one is correct?

So I removed my rear door panel today, and pulled the blue plug wire that was connected to the speaker, the speaker had to places for the plug to go, I inserted the speaker plug wire into the top spot of the speaker. The speaker works correctly was just wondering why two spots were there on the speaker?

I have the logic 7 system.

Either one is fine. The extra connector is to plug a tweeter in. That's how they are connected on the rear deck.
