Hey guys would u s/c a 2008 m3?

hey guys sorry for this horrible first post, just want your honest opinion, just got a 2008 euro m3 with 14k miles and i wanted to put an AA stage 2 kit on it but ive been reading up on the whole rod bearing issue,and got scared but then i saw the chart that was made and the 08's actualy have a lower failure rate then the later model m3's production number per failures, soo im just undecided what do u guys suggest

Definitely! You could always do a bearing replacement prior to install if you're worried about it.

i was actualy thinking of doing the bearing replacement after 5k miles or so seeing that its low mile and oil been changed every 3000 miles or 6 months which ever came first, the guy was really anal

Ive not read into it to much, But as a safety measure would it just be best practice to replace the bearings every X miles? say 5k, is there any down side?

5k miles is 18months - 24months for me. If its the cost of bearings or cost of a new engine..

Do it! Stop reading the forums, it's making you paranoid lol. There are plenty of guys with 70- 100k miles on original bearings. If your worried, swap them out before the SC install, otherwise just let the car get warm and drive moderately (under 3k rpm) till the car is at normal operating temp. Get a oil analysis done every other oil change and change your oil every 3-5k miles depending on how hard the car is driven. You should be good to go..

Like others have said if you are worried swap out the bearings before the install so you have an idea how bad the wear is if any.

well, rod bearings are not like oil, they wont wear when you're not putting miles on the car!

No harm in getting a Blackstone oil report beforehand.

An 08 with only 14K on the clock? Need to get out and enjoy your M3 more!

Supercharge it. If you're really concerned and want the extra piece of mind, swap in new bearings and try to regularly have you oil analyzed by Blackstone Labs. But 5k is way too often for bearings maintenance, like 10x too much.

Do it, I have an 08 VF620 had it for about 8000 miles so far. Started using Mobil 0w-40 warms up much faster too.

Both good advice. If you are really worried about the rod bearings, do a Blackstone report prior for good measure, change the bearings, and enjoy the car worry free. We recommend this for all 08-09 owners along with routine spark plug changes every 10k miles.
