E93 roof trouble

Hi, recently bought a 2008 330i and love it. Over the last couple of days I’ve been treating the rubbers/seals on the roof as it’s been dry.
The roof went up into stacked position so I could do this, then today I folded the whole roof down to clean all the way around where the window sits.
I tried to put the roof up and could hear the motor but nothing happening then a blinking red light then solid light.
Messed about for a good hour the fault message was roof lock wasn’t engaged/something blocking roof.
Found that the passenger side locking clip didn’t retract so managed to get it to retract and roof came up.
Then I tried to put the roof down again and the windows go down and the motor runs and the roof locks release at the front but that’s it, then the blinking red light. Will lock back into place and pull windows back up just won’t get past that point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Hey,
The following info might help.

I had similar issues 3 times. The first time, the car fixed itself after a few hours. Don't know how but it might connect to what happened the second and third time.

The 3rd time the car was left off the road for a year and the battery died, next thing I know it was working again after charging the battery.
Maybe try disconnecting the battery and allowing the electronics to completely drain for a day.
Another reason to try this is that these cars have programming that will completely shut off a part due to a major fault code or because a minor fault code has reappeared for a set number of times. e.g. if you start the car 30 times with the same fault in the lights, the programming decides that the 30 limit has been reached so it to shut of the components for the lights to stop further issues, forcing you to take the car in to the dealers. Hopefully that makes sense.

Lastly, there are a number of good long youtube videos that show you how to manually open and shut the roof mechanism. And if I remember correctly, one discusses the hydraulic system in the boot.
Might be this one.

At the very least try these before taking it to BMW or a convertible specialist like I did for the second time I had the issue. £600~ and 5hrs for what? I don't know, he probably unplugged the battery.
EDIT:
Also, are you sure you didnt use glue on the seals. Maybe they are to gooey.
