Wanted to share my newest DIY mod.
Honeycomb gauges from Venoxy. These are direct replacements. Wanted to try something different from the solid red gauges. White needles are from ebay. Came off a BMW F10. Surgery is required since F10 needles dont fit on the cluster. Last pic is what it looked like before. I always hated the orange on red look. |

That's awesome - but FFF you for making me "need" to spend more money on my car now!
(Joking ... as I said, it looks awesome. )

I think it looks good. Gotta have some coconuts to perform surgery on them though. lol
Do the needles just unsnap? I tried something like this on an NA1 NSX and it fucked the whole gauge up.

It was harder to put them back in. Push too hard it would move in either direction by a little bit. Plus I had hooked the cluster back up to the car to make sure the needles are all at 0 and aligned them that way. Trick is to use two spoons, put them under the needle, and very slowly increase the pressure until the needles pop out. |

Bumping this because I just did mine too with a dark red gauge and think white would contrast well. Any reason you used f10 needles and not f30? Looks like the f30 has white needles too and probably wouldn’t need to be modified.

So the f30 cluster I picked up had needles that also were different to our cars. There are various configurations of f30 clusters, so maybe a newer one would work (mine was an older one with the analog mpg gauge at the bottom of the tachometer). Ended up doing what Danlnyc88 did and disassembled the needles and swapping the parts over. Wasn’t exactly easy, but not so bad once you figure out what you need to do.

This is like swapping S engine for an N series and being excited about it. Red needles have been reserved for M cars since E30 M3. Regular Bmw's always had white ones. No wonder Bmw gave us G80 and G87 when owners are proudly downgrading M traditions.

I have a white car with sakhir interior and I thought white needles would look nice with the red clusters, and to me it looks amazing. A lot of people did too and reached out to me including the guy above. The orange needle with red cluster looks bad. I understand you don't like them and that's fine but your comparisons are ridiculous...lol |

Automatic transmission in F82? This forum went faster downhill than this "auto" can shift since 2nd and 3rd owners started posting and modifying last M platform made by engineers with real Bmw DNA in their blood.

I like it. I might try it out myself. I wish we could change the stock gauge illumination to amber. That would be a home run for me. Classic bimmer.
