LTE Hotspot in the U.S.

Is anyone using the LTE Hotspot option here with an F30 in the US? I don't see any posts about it and my local dealer said it's probably Europe only. I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan with AT&T and I believe the micro SIM card inside my iPhone 5 would qualify as an LTE SIM. This would be a great feature for the kids who could enjoy using their wifi devices on long trips. I guess I would have to pop the SIM out of my phone and put it into the Hotspot device, which seems to snap into the armrest bay (in place of the phone snap-in adapter?). I wonder if I could still make calls through the car system when the hotspot is plugged in. Thanks for any information!
