Write off?

Nephew had his car hit by a hired van whilst parked in a car park, lucky for him a off duty PC witnessed the whole thing and left her details at the restaurant. She did tell the third party that he hit the BMW but continued to drive off. I contacted the hire company but they are having trouble contacting the driver and the luton was returned after hours, weird thing is apparently there's no damage to the luton!! how can this be just look at the photos

Van hire are due to speak to the witness soon.

Assuming the road surface was in rough shape, I could see the corner of the box digging into the side of the car like that without showing much damage on the corner itself, especially with a grey car. I'd imagine they would notice something with a closer look... hopefully the driver didn't clean off any paint residue.

My wife backed into a tow trunk with her X6 a few years ago.. the only noticeable damage to do tow truck was some broken plastic on the top of the bumper from a reflector... and it caused a good $7k worth of damage to the X6.

Agree on the bumper by the box. The driver probably didn't even know they hit it.

AX handled the claim on behalf of BMW, they are chasing the third party for the funds. He hasn't paid a single dime.
