water pump fails after aligment at dealership :/

So I took my 325i to the dealer to have an alignment done on it, after i Pick it up and get on the free way the car over heats. The car over was in perfect order before I took it in isnt that a bit strange? So I take it back to them and they pay for the towing, then they give me a call the next day to tell me my water pump just failed.

Any thoughts ?

Not sure what you mean? it maybe kinda suspicious but BMW engine very often requires cooling overhaul around 60kmiles.
If the tech puncture radiator hose (by accidnt or on purpose) you'll see white smoke coming out of engine bay on freeway but not easy to disable WP (I am not sure if 2006 325i uses electric or belt driven WP).

^^ good ? I would like to know if my 2006 325xi has electric or belt style, I heard the electric ones die a lot.

Not sure if its true or not, and I am going in a month for my 60K check up, what should I ask about the cooling system?

Did you do the job yourself? or did you buy from tischer and brought it to an indy shop? Thanks

got it from tisher and went to an indy shop...4 hour job, but they took a little longer, charged me $300 for the work.

If you search the forums for water pump, there is a thread about someone doing a diy on changing the pump, but im not spending 4 hours under an engine.

And from what I have read after my pump went, this is probably the only major problem our 325/28s have. I was scared when mine went, but seems like some a few people have had cooling problems, and some people have been thru 2 pumps already.

Water pumps, and cooling systems in general, have always been a trouble spot on 6-cyl BMW's. I have done preventative changes on all of my BMWs in the past. The E92 is the first one I have had with the electric pump and unfortunately it is more expensive than the belt driven kind.
I highly doubt your alignment had anything to do with the pump failure, I think you are dealing with a coincidence.
