CIC no GPS after android install

I just recently got my old E90 back from my kid.

I had someone install Android HU into her car a while back.

I just realized that her CIC navigation never worked. The car originally comes with CIC factory nav.

What i see so far-
1. GPS splitter and aftermarket GPS antenna are working fine. The Android HU can see GPS signal from original GPS connector from the car, from both end of GPS splitter, and aftermarket GPS antenna

2. The CIC sees nothing from original ant, splitter, aftermarket (this is plug into the back of the CIC unit.

3. Went into service menu- the GPS receiver date, and receiver SW are both blank. GPS status not fixed. It sees 0 satellites

So questions
1. Did CIC use the combox for GPS not the sharfin?

2. I vaguely remember I have to reposition the most- to the new Android HU- did I mess up on that hence GPS receiver is not being seen? My combox and everything works.

So confused

no cic uses direct gps antenna, it has blue connector
but you have to wait for the cic to get fix
and may be you need to reboot cic

I already have each system on its own antenna. Also tried different antenna.

Finally got my tool32 to work.

I have a GPS module fault in CIC. Looks like the CIC unit GPS module died.

Usually the GPS comes from the TCU, Mulf module or Combox .
As far as I know.
If you break the Most Loop by not tranfering the fiber optic to any new
stuff that plugs into the Radio/Idrive it will cease to work.
You can also go to the idrive subforum where there is more knowledge
on the subject.

the cheapest option for you is to get another cic module, even without hdd and swap this gps board, because all other ways will require cic reflash and navi fsc rehosting

For car with factory GPS- it’s directly feed into the HU. So if the gps module in CIC dies- it will show permanent fault. The only thing can be done is new CIC and all the coding goes with it.

My 2011 E90 is one of the last one made (10/2011) so it has new software that most CIC are too old (requires software flash).

It was good 3 hour coding job. But now everything works

How do you just replace the CIC module?

I just swapped unit and did reflash and FSC rehosting. It was pain in the butt.
