I have a couple of small stone chips on the front, I have accepted as a fact of life, otherwise the car will be in every week...

sadly these days I think we either have to go for one of the film treatments or accept that chips will occur.

Is estoril blue. BMW have said either a full respray at £300. + vat or they will touch it up for free, like others have said it will happen hence I'm going to take the pragmatic approach and get it touched up. Now further bad luck, after I had been to sytner I was driving out to hathersage in the peaks, got to a nice long bit of rad so I thought I would stretch the legs of the car, suddenly a stupid pheasant ran out in the road. With a bus comming the other way I had to JAM on the break but I still hit it!!!!! No damage apart from it snapped one of the verticles on the grill. I believe that this is desperate part, I.e won't need to buy the whole grille.

One possible option is to bite the bullet and get the performance grille. Out of interest what is BMW charging for the performance grilles including fitting

I hope the saying, 'things happen in threes', does not apply. You have not told us which panel was damaged. £300 + VAT for a complete re-spary seems good value.
I had a 2 inch deep scratch on my front bumper and BMW did a perfect smart fix for £150 inc VAT.

Best of luck.

The damage is on the bonnet, I agree I think the respray price is good but I think I do just need to accept that these things will happen.

Garage List
Sorry to hear about the pheasant, hit a pigeon once and it made one helluva mess (engine bay full of guts and feathers) so I can imagine a pheasant is much worse

Re the stone chips, it is frustrating especially when summer comes and local councils do their resurfacing trick (not that it's proper resurfacing) of tarring roads then scattering tons of gravel for the motorists to bed down

There is a UK company that does something called XPEL Ultimate, although depending on cost it may be overkill for an F30/31. That said, someone in the US has had it done on a red Sport and I have to say you'd never know from the pictures.

Update on pheasant saga, performance grills ordered to replace the broken kidney grills and while looking at the car the body shop guy noticed the top part of the bumper had moved slightly so there going to realign that while there doing it. So out of bad comes good can't wait to see her new mean face!
