Hey guys,

Just checking where you guys scab power for auxillary devices?

I need to find a 12V accessories wire which is always on the the car is on.

Was thinking the back of the stereo? Splice into accessories off that? Can go off the fuse box but thats a lot of work.

Any other ideas? Boost gauge will obviously be mounted in the car so around the dash would be good.

you can use the ciggy lighter under the shifter trim or theres a empty fuse in the fuse box. FUSE 5! to be exact. which can be tapped with one of these

You can also use the cigarette lighter BEE35i.

But what nate posted would probably be easier, i use tapafuse to wire my dashcam.

Car does run on CANBUS but ignition power source are like other cars. I have a boost gauge installed using power from the cigarette lighter

I have a dash cam and a 3 socket cigarette charger (wired in) with no issues.

I don't get why people need boost guages in the 335...?

It's not a custom turbo job, the computer knows where the boost is and it knows how to use it... just let the computer do its thing.

its accurate but a tad delayed. Scotty, having a boost gauge can be very useful because when you idle it sits at a certain kPa, so if you have a vacuum leak you'l be able to tell straight away, also when you wot and you dont hit peak boost, you know you have a problem.

I understand that, but in this scenario it's basically a diagnostic device which pales in comparison to data logging when you suspect something might be wrong.

I hear you, but I suppose different strokes for different folks.

He may have plans for other things requiring a direct boost gauge. I.e. BOV for N55's etc etc

Boost gauge ftw it's a great tool to have, vacuum leaks and peak boost levels. Good to know how much boost your running when your tuned.

With a guage mounted like that, the cops would bend you over so hard.

Mounting in front of the main instrument cluster is screaming "I'm tuned! Give me a defect notice!"

I've recently ordered the ECS boost gauge, and it should be arriving soon.

I wanted a boost gauge because:
1. Ive recently had troubles with not hitting peak boost after a couple of WOTs. Seems to be resolved now through tuning, but if i had a boost gauge it would be much easier to tell when to stop logging after getting the problem.
2. With my Wedge flash, boost level is going so close to the TMAP sensor limit, i'd like to be able to see if it goes over and the DME can't see it. Being connected directly to the vacuum line I get a true indication of boost. Until putting in an N20 sensor recently, it was hitting the limit at ~21.5psi.
3. As Nate said, easier to spot boost leaks.
4. Having something permanent is more convenient than connecting an App for daily driving.

I went with the ECS one because it looks the most stock. I looked at the steering column mounted ones and they appear to really block vision, and just look really boy racer IMO.

I agree with Scott that its a bit pointless in respect of seeing anything quicker than the DME can. Realistically while driving at full blast you can only safely check it for brief moments, so its best to leave that sort of thing up to the DME (or JB4 for many people), which both do a very good job at controlling boost. But proper logging is always the best diagnostic tool, and a boost gauge is just a secondary measure.

For me it will be good piece of mind that the tune is doing what its supposed to be doing.

Yeh I bought the same but without that left hand vent and bought the right vent separately. I want the gauge closer to me
