Does anyone think HUD will be offered anytime in the near future?

The dashboard on the 3 Series is too short for a HUD setup and that is why it is not offered. This is also the same reason why it is not offered in the new Z4

I just found out earlier this week that there is an iphone application that acts as a HUD - it's called aSmart HUD. I haven't downloaded it so I don't know what it's like.
