So i installed jb3 in my 135IS...

And im only on day one, & just drove about 15 miles from NYC to my apt in NJ, but wow... Im using map 5 and my throttle is so much quicker, the push is stronger and it combined with my alpina b3 tcu tune is just LOVE... Fell in love with my 135 again!!

Got the jb3 for DUMB cheap on ebay from a dude who used it in his 335, so ill update to jb4 in another month or so. From things ive read, the JB needs a few days to get the most out of it. Im almost scared as to what the next few days will be like. =) i love my bimmer man.. Very proud owner here!!

agreed. btw, if we add a tune to a 135is...does it add the same power as it would on a standard 135i?

Thats a funny thing.. I say i/is almost interchangeably. The weird thing is my vin lookup brings up IS and i on different sites and when I called BMW of america they told me IS... I got my car used from another manufacturer, so they couldnt tell me much. Someone probably messed up my paperwork somewhere along the line haha.

I'll omit it if it means that much to u =) im just in love with my bmw no matter what model it is. I plan on a drop in filter and probably some downpipes & keeping the bmw exh.. Then i'll install some of the m3 parts i've been collecting.

well that's not an 'is'. the 'is' is a specific package offered only in 2013.

but still nice mods, man! i don't think you should call it an 'is'...but you can definitely call it a kickass 135i M-Sport

Bottom line the 135IS did not exist in 2009, came out as a 2013 & most people involved with BMW’s know that. That being said its your so you can call it whatever you want & even glue a little S or ///M on the trunk if you want to.

Problem is most people will think you are either a poser or don't know any better.

That's probably because the internal BMW name has always been 135is, years before the creation of the actual 2013 135is model.

This has been mentioned a few times before, but the best evidence was when Dackelone captured the following screenshot of a BMW internal computer listing the forthcoming 1M (Pyrat). You will note there is no 135i, all 135s are listed internally as "135is".

It also explains why many folks have 135is on their invoices. My dealer's invoices list my model as a 135is even though it is a 2009 135i (and they've been doing that since I started going there in early 2011, well before the advent of the 2013 135is).

But just because BMW calls it 135is internally, you really have a 135i. Calling it a 135is is wrong and makes things confusing with the new for 2013 135is.

Can we delete this thread? I misspoke and it really isnt serious to me, whether its an i or an IS..i bought a car off of a dealer who got it from an auction, so i had no info about what packages it had or anything. I go to sites & call the dealer n they say IS.. So why would i think differently? Ive been more than corrected and i thank the last fellow for the knowledge regarding the discrepancy.. Im new to all this and i thought I could take the companies word when they tell me about my vehicle... Can we move on? =)

Would you mind changing it on your signature?

I am soooooo just teasing you. It shouldn't take many days for it to learn the tune of the car. Really just a few accelerations.

I just recently installed a JB4. Great stuff! Map 8 does a nice fuel economy mode (no turbos) when wanted. I also learned that was the cause of the check engine light going on (goes off after changing map to 5 and turning car off / on again).

Glad you are also enjoying the upgrade.
