Just INVESTED in a new smart key fob/whatever

In a moment of being distracted, entirely myself to blame, I lost my primary key fob unit. Not good.
You do not want to do the same. Herein I share (refresh the forum topic) the process...

First lose your fob. Then, much swearing, kicking the dog if that's you, persuade someone so you get home somehow, to retrieve the spare. More not good.

Your call to the dealer network gets the same answer: bring proof of ownership, photo ID matching the address/identity of the 'applicant', physically to (any) dealership parts dept.

Offer some $234.00 U.S. (prepaid, non-refundable) whereupon they promptly send a req to Cali, where the smart bits are encoded, and the key blade is contoured.

Wait 24-36 hrs to express it to your dealer (next day, 24 hrs in my case) for you to, well be on your way. Weekdays only for this!

Do not lose it on a weekend, SOL.

Shout out to Glendale WI BMW for the prompt performance!

Your car's so nice -if local- they would have already cribbed it! lol

I purchased mine from a pp who had both keys thankfully.

I'd recommend strongly... get another, because the alternative is almost as bad as it being 'Ferris Beullered'.

Matticus91 I agree with the OP, you should get another key if you haven't done that already.

I have several dog tags with the following information...

REWARD IF FOUND
PLEASE CALL
JOHN SMITH
330-555-9999

You can buy these cheap on eBay.

I keep one on each of my car keys, motorcycle keys, wife's keys, etc.

They seem to work great. We have not lost a single key since I started doing this several years ago!
