Idle Issue

Showed this video to my SA today and he said it was normal. Something about camshafts, electric power steering, and some kind of auto adjust.

Car feels like it's stalling on start up before revs drop to warmed up idle. I really only started to notice it after the fuel pump recall was performed.

Thoughts?

That is not normal, it is also idling high
Idk what's causing it but I would check again with your dealership or a different one or wait to hear from someone else here what's causing it

I have a 435i, it does the same but quickly drops below 1000 rpm, but it doesn't drop and go back up like OP

No call back from the SA yet, but based on responses it looks like it is common among the "x20" cars. Maybe it is not an issue, and just something the car does?

It does seem to occur more frequently when the car sits for 1-2 days, but it has also occurred when leaving for my lunch hour and the car has only been sitting for a few hours.

N55 or N2x? My N52 did this and was fixed with a software update, believe it or not. Definitely seems abnormal. Should rev to about 1500 on startup and drop below 1000 as it warms (about 30 seconds or so in temperate weather).

That doesn't seem normal... Almost like the computer recognizing something and adjusting. Does it drive fine?

SA called back and states that this is a normal part of the warm-up. He says the car is self-adjusting and that if I blip the throttle on start up that it will over ride what is occurring (I can't imagine doing that every time I start the car would be good for it either).

I am going to e-mail an SA at a different dealership to see what they think, but I hate to waste the time going to another service center without results...

Sounds like a fuel related issue. The n20 has been known to have fuel pump issues high pressure pump issues as well as leaking injector issues. Than again that's all turbo BMWs Lol. Just tell advisor you have rough idle on start up. Tell him you want the tech to check spark plugs for fouling. Tech should know exactly how to do it under warranty or he's a lazy idiot. Black plugs=leaking injectors= rough idle start up
