BimmerLink Oil Temp sensors
Hi everyone!
I’m trying to monitor the oil temp of my B48 with the hidden menu (6WB) and BimmerLink but I’m confused with two different sensors. It looks like in BimmerLink there are several oil temp sensors available and I’m currently logging two of them: “Oil Temp” and “Oil Temp after filter”. I can see the value of the hidden menu for the oil temp match exactly with “oil temp after filter” in BimmerLink. But then, what “Oil temp” in BimmerLink is used for? And why I can see huge differences between both sensor values? During a cold start I can see a difference of 4.5C more in “oil temp after filter” than for “oil temp”. And when driving even more, like 6C to 9C. Is that expected? Where are these sensors located? And why that huge difference even in cold situations? Thanks in advance! Hi there
If I remember correctly, the sensor with the lower Reading is from a sensor in the sump, wich in general have a lower Reading and during the drive gets more cooled by the wind

FWIW, RealOEM shows 2 oil/coolant temperature sensors on my N55 - one located in the side of the block, and a second at the front of the cylinder head.
