Thanks Mark! The 500 is surely awesome!
I don't want people to think you can only get good shots with super high end glass however. This one was taken by my friend using my 1DIV and the 100-400 MKII, which is a lens that I by far use more than any other Stag in the Rocks by lennycarl08, on Flickr |

Thanks, Ed. The clouds and the strong wind made it challenging, but I also think the clouds added to the drama of the images, even though they hid much of the eclipse. Lots of time spent waiting for a clearing in the clouds last night.

Nicely done, Mark.
Ed, loving the new glass. You actually notice a difference in IQ, don't you? Dave

Brilliant eclipse shot Mark.
I wanted to try a similar sequence myself, even set the alarm and got up specially (my wife thinks I'm crackers !), but we had 100% cloud Still, we've another chance in 2033 . . . I'll be 88

Thanks, Alan. I learned a thing or two and would like another chance, but yes, 2033 is a ways off and I'll be 74. Maybe by then I can send my clone or droid out to do it.

Tonight we've just been treated to an amazing sunset.
We went for a walk along our West Beach, and this is the view we had, looking west towards Inverness. West Beach Pano Sunset by Alan Butterfield, on Flickr

This is the moment of sunset this evening and, as is so often the case, the colours just got better and better after the sun went down.

Nice shots from the new big gun, Ed.
Alan, I posted earlier (I thought) but it doesn't appear to be here. I must have hit the wrong button. In any case, amazing shots. Hope you have plenty of wall space because they both deserve it.

More weird skies at Bryce Canyon..
Sorry for the larger pic, the sky is difficult to see in smaller versions.
