Rubbing or issues when using Continental DW 255/35/19 in rear instead of 255/30/19?

Hello All:

After some searching I can't seem to find the answer to my question, although it has to be here somewhere but I cant wait so hopefully someone can chime in?

I currently have bald and worn out rear tires (steel reinforcements are showing through!). Tires are Continental DW (255/30/19) on E92 335i Coupe with factory 19 incher sport package wheels. My fronts are 225/35/19 (also DW's) and have about 50-60% of tread left. And, Tirerack or Discount Tire do not have my rear size in stock and quite possibly Continental is not making them in 255/30/19 anymore.

Question is can I use the 255/35/19 Conti DW for rear and not have any problems?

I did contact TireRack and they said it might rub or it might not (the fella could'nt tell me for sure since he did nt have direct experience with the setup involved).

Anyone has used the 35 profile DW on their e92 coupes? I really dont want to change the whole set since I will be selling the car in fall.

Thanks!

255/35/19 is too tall. It may rub on your fenders, will throw off your speedometer and odometer, and could potentially cause brake failure. What size are your wheels?

Thanks!

I am using the OEM Style 230 wheel which is 19" x 9" and has +39 offset.

What about using a 265/30/19 tire on these wheels with 225/35/19 in the front? Based on my search results some tire brands seem to be ok while others may not "fit".

A 265/30/19 will fit on a 19x9 without a problem. That sizing should easily work on your car.

Thanks again!

So using 265 on rear with leaving my 225 DW's at front wont cause any issues (in terms of handling and stability)?

It will slightly increase the amount of understeer (car wanting to push straight through a turn )

I ran m3 spec tires, 265/35 19 rear and 245/35 19 front for quite a whole with no issue on rubbing.
