Tire size options for a 330i

Hi gents...
Please pardon my newbie question...

Do I have any size options for tires for my 330i? I know they need to be 17" but can I deviate from the 225/45 size and is there any reason (performance, look etc.) to do so?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Every tire manufacturer lists a recommended rim width range for each tire size. At TireRack, if you go to the "specs" section of one tire model, you will see that info.

For the 17x8 front wheel, there are several tire sizes that fit. For example, you can use 225/45/17 or 235/45/17 with no problems. But beware that 235/45/17 is larger in diameter than the 225. It is not generally recommended to have more than 2% difference in tire diameter versus stock.

235/45/17 is perfectly fine to run. The difference is only about 1.4% from stock which is still within the 3% recommended range.

Is there any real reason to bump up? Will it look different or perform differently?

It is only about a third of an inch taller and wider, so while there would be a slight cosmetic difference I would not expect a real world difference in performance.

Thanks, Gary. I am preparing to order a set of Conti Extreme Contact DWS tires from your site. Should I order through you? Will it help you?

Thanks!

Ditto. For daily driving circumstances, you will most likely not notice a difference between the 2 sizes.

Certainly, just use the instructions in my signature, and I can get the forum credit for the sale as well.

I just put a set of these tires on my 330i on Monday and have been very happy with them! I went with the 225/45's
