Many Brand New Alpina B7 qoute below $100,000 (is this real?)
I just run a search on Cars.com for 2011 Alpina B7,
Some of the dealer offer the car at regular MSRP price, BUT I found many dealers quote a brand new 2011 Alpina B7 at around low $90K to $100K. (there are 11 cars offered at below $100,000) This is BIZZARE, because that mean it is even cheaper than the Invoice Price. Is this price for real ? or the dealers just playing tricks just to make you to contact them ? http://www.cars.com/for-sale/searchr...RUMB&pgId=2102 |

I check the dealer's own website,
and those website listed the Alpina B7 with the same price as listed on Cars.com So all those bargain price data was sourced from the dealer directly. I don't think that this is only hearsay. Obviously the source is an employee from Alpina. The member, who posted at BMW-Treff, is quite respectable.
I'm sorry but what does "VIN" mean? Regards Andreas |

I went into South Motors BMW, SA was named Javier (only one there). While looking for an X6M, and having to place an order for one, he offered a B7 he had in stock for 105K. I was surprised to see that and this thread reconfirmed it.

Can someone please explain the relationship between BMW and ALPINA, at least w/r/t to the B7 in the United States. Do you mean to tell me that ALPINA is considered a car manufacturer and simply uses BMW's infrastructure and dealer network? And that if ALPINA's aren't selling in BMW dealerships it doesn't impact BMW, but it does hurt ALPINA, directly!? I would think that BMW would request of ALPINA to build (finish) a set number of 7's per model year and that dealers would order / be allocated same just like they do all other models - through BMW. Yet, if what i think is correct, I don't see how ALPINA's financial woes can be helped by dealers fire selling ALPINA's on their lot - only helps the dealers to get them off their lot.

Alpina is considered a car manufacturer every where on Earth except in North America. They don't sell enough to warrant federalization so they sell it through BMW's network.
Which is why in North America Alpina B7s carry BMW VIN numbers while everywhere else carry Alpina VIN. Here it is consider a BMW 750i with the Alpina package for federal purposes and BMW is the importer of these vehicles. This is why it is sold like any other regular BMWs with the discounts. It doesn't help when the so called biggest car market, USA, is broke and the purchasing power is not like before, yet BMW still over supply the US market hoping for miracles. BMW North America imported 500 of them to USA yet only 16 to Canada. So you can't buy one in Canada but they are discounted in USA because people don't have money to buy them and they are just sitting on the lot collecting dust. |

So that's why Andreas states what he does; which does not apply to the US.
Another question: If one wanted to purchase an ALPINA in Europe, do they have the option to go to a BMW dealership, or must they purchase from ALPINA directly? |

Alpina does not sell cars directly, purchases are made through dealers.
In Europe there are select BMW dealers that are called BMW Alpina dealers. Alpina destined for Europe are sold through these BMW Alpina dealers and carries a Alpina VIN instead of BMW VIN. Insteresting to note, all BMW dealers are certified to service Alpina cars. |

Update--I've got e-mails into two of these dealers asking for more info. It the numbers pan out, I'm seriously thinking of going for a two-year lease. No word yet though. Last edited by SleepTight; 01-27-2011 at 09:12 PM.. |

No. It is not real. The dealership claims it's a misprint. In fact New Country BMW claims that "[a]lso they do not make the Alpine [sic] in all wheel drive." Which will, of course, be news to Alpina (note proper spelling New Country).
http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...rformance.aspx If you buy an Alpina in Germany, you will be treated to an experience similar to Bentley and Rolls Royce as befits this bespoke car. Here in the U.S., you deal with flunkies who make their living selling X-3s to housewives. Both BMW and Alpina deserve better. |
