Now if that doesn't get your blood pumping, you are pretty close to flat line. BMW, please bring a CSL to the States.

I liked the looks of the first prototype, but this is better.

And they teased us by almost showing the engine bay.

Can't wait to see it next year, and definitely in person at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
What makes you think the car is going to be racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans?

Anyone knows who's the lucky bastard behind the wheel? That thing looks amazing and by the sound of the engine the people at Porsche should be finding it difficult to sleep!

The lucky bastard is BMW Motorsport factory driver Jorg Muller. Jorg has prior experience in the ALMS, as he drove the V12 LMR in the 2000 season, and also the M3 GTR in the 2001 season.

But why the hell do they paint the front black?

Its one of the best looking parts on the M3. On a white M3 it now looks like the car is damaged and has lost its front spoiler.

The ACO invites teams who place well in the prior season's overall ALMS and LMS, FIA GT, other specific races (24 Hours LM, Petit LM) and any other car that they feel belongs there (like unique eco-friendly sportscars).

So after the M3 GTR wins their class in the ALMS in 2009, they will be invited to race in the 2010 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Awesome! I like the way the wheels look. A street version of the wheels might look pretty good. I would love to know more about the engine. Is it based on the S65? It looks like the same bore and stroke but it probably has a lot more compression and cam timing to reach 485 hp.

Yeah, that's all true, but BMW has never expressed any intention of racing the M3 at Le Mans. They never raced the previous E46 M3 GTR at Le Mans, which kind of pissed off tehe ACO. My guess is we'll see a factory-backed team race the car in the Nurburgring 24 Hour again long before we ever see it at Le Mans. It would be cool though.

You are correct, sir.

However, I would think BMW would take advantage of the Le Mans publicity to continue to push their performance cars. With high gas prices, I believe all manufacturers are needing to step up their marketing (or change their product altogether, which I pray won't ever happen). Again, my wishful thinking here...
