My 2008 328i was making a whistling sound when i start the car. Took the car to the dealership, and they said my starter motor was making the whistling sound, and eventually will need to be replaced. My car has 40,000 miles, and this will be my first major repair out of warranty. The dealer quoted me $480 for parts, plus labor. My ca said it will cost around $800. He is going to take off $100. So I'm looking at $700. MY dealership ( Prestige BMW ) has done an excellent job servicing my car. They even replaced a door actuator without any charge when my car was out of warranty. I have been very satisfied with them. Has anyone replaced their starter motor with relatively low mileage? And how much did it cost you? THANKS.
