It is the same thing people have to do when installing LCI F30 lights on pre-LCI cars. I had to do this on 2015 F30 when installed M Performance LCI tail lights.

Yes, it is all described in the tutorial(s) that I have referenced. Drip rails can be acquired dirt cheap from the scrap yard or at full face value from BMW... like $30 USD each if someone wants them brand new.
