Does anyone else think its absurd that a car reviewers son doesn't know how to drive a manuel? I was taught houw to drive a manuel way before I even had my license.

who is manuel?

The article didnt even say what happened did it? Was the car in 1st and he just turned it on and it rolled into the door?

That was exactly what I was thinking while reading it. I learned to drive manual at 14

What is that with all those garages? I thought the garage would be part of the house, not in some block in a less then desirable state.

Don't think it would be safe to park it there after the location has been published ...

I figure the Porsche was probably parked in 1st gear, and he had to depress the clutch to start the car. Let the clutch out, 500 hp lurches the car forward...

I thought it was very weird that his kid was like 16 (looks from the pictures) and does not know how to drive a MT... yet he knew that you needed to depress the clutch to start it. Oh well, what was he starting it for anyway? You can hear the radio with the engine off.

I doubt it was producing 500 hp idling...

I think the story was a little overstated in parts, like when he kept referring to the car as being trashed. An 11k repair bill on all cosmetic parts of a 180k car is not exactly trashed in my opinion. I dont know for sure, but I have a feeling that just the general maintenance of this car can sometimes cost that much in a single trip.

That, and the fact that it wasn't his car.

I bet the tone of the story would have been a little different if he had just dropped a lifetime of savings into a brand new top-end Porsche. Nevertheless, it's an embarrassing story and no doubt a shame.
